In the midst of the “Android Craze” and with Samsung and HTC releasing numerous new models at an alarming rate that serve the Smartphone segment, it is very easy to neglect a company that has been doing a very good job in the same segment, yet has somehow managed to fall below the Pakistani market’s radar. If you look past all the glamour of the iPhone, the rebellious appeal of HTC and the Super AMOLEDs of Samsung, you see Sony Ericsson, a company standing strong with a point to prove.
It might be that I am very picky at times when making recommendations to my peers, but it has been more than once that I simply couldn’t see Apple, HTC or Samsung having the perfect fit for what someone needed. And it has been in those instances that I have fallen back to Sony Ericsson to save the day. I cannot seem to pinpoint a specific reason why Sony Ericsson Smartphones has not been one of the top choices of Pakistani users, but perhaps it has fallen victim to the “What’s popular, must be great” fad.
Once you look closely and use one of the Smartphones in Sony Ericsson’s XPERIA lineup, you find yourself looking for reasons why NOT to get one, and believe me these reasons are very few. If there was only one word to sum up what Sony Ericsson develops, it would be “Smooth !!!”. With great build quality, flowing lines, responsive touchscreens and the silky Timescape User Interface, everything about SE’s phones seems to work in harmony. Technology with Sony Ericsson hasn’t taken a back seat either and with features including 8MP Auto-Focus cameras, Big and Bright LED Displays, HD Video recording capabilities and the Integration of “Sony Mobile Bravia Engine” for remarkable video processing, you are sure to be holding a technologically rich device with one of SE’s Smartphones.
So the next time you are out searching for an Android Smartphone, don’t limit your focus by looking only through HTC and Samsung. In fact, when you consider XPERIA phones as a viable option, you will have broadened the horizons by a lot. Quite more often than not, in making a SE XPERIA smartphone purchase, you will be glad you did.
Paki Tech Reviews will be doing full video reviews of many XPERIA phones in the near future but in the mean time here are a few phones in the Sony XPERIA lineup that are worth your consideration:
XPERIA Arc:
Probably my top choice amongst the lineup itself, this may be the flagship of XPERIA. With a beautiful 4.2” screen, Bravia Mobile Engine and HDMI output, this phone is a Multimedia powerhouse. A powerful 1 GHz processor, great camera and “Artistic” body lines, there is very little that you cannot love about this phone.

XPERIA Neo:
Very similar to the Arc in many regards, this model would be a slightly less expensive version. You get all the great hardware and smoothness of the XPERIA Arc, but you compromise with a 3.7” screen (which my no means is small) and the curvy body of XPERIA Arc is omitted.

XPERIA Play:
Playstation anyone??? Well if there was a time you couldn’t put the controller to your Playstation down or you were always glued to your PSP, this phone may bring back that time yet again. Specifically designed using Sony’s expertise in making the hottest selling gaming console, this phone is focused on letting you play high quality video games just like you would on your console. The phone slides out to reveal PSP style control buttons and let you game away. Along with the great gaming capabilities, it doesn’t fall short in any way when it comes to being used a XPERIA Smartphone.

XPERIA X10:
This was one of the first few Android variants in the XPERIA lineup. It supports much of the same hardware including a 1GHz processor, an 8 MP camera and a 4” LED screen to boot. Also a note worth mentioning is that because the X10 has been out for a while now, the price has considerably subsided and this may become a decent and affordable option.
